What is the purpose of this website?

The main purpose of this website is to gather up all the material of Joe Bob Briggs, aka John Bloom, that is not currently available on DVD and preserve it so that future generations of drive-in mutants will have the chance to see and hear this legendary horror host in action. We strive to find and acquire the best available sources of said material and are also relying on other people such as yourself to help us in that endeavor.

Why are you doing this?

I can remember sitting at home watching Joe Bob Briggs and wishing I had his job, it’s amazing what the man knows, not to mention hilarious. It’s a shame none of this work is available to buy, however it is great he is doing full length commentaries which are awesome. I suggest you buy those through Amazon or any of your other favorite DVD seller so hopefully they will commission more.

Can’t you just read the transcripts of the episodes?

Well I could and you could too, but you would miss out on a lot; reading the transcripts and hearing the lines delivered from the man himself are two entirely different things. I’m sure there are going to be some episodes that we will never be able to hear again but I’m hoping they are few and far between.

Are you looking to make money by doing this?

No, you should never ever be requested to pay for these unless asked to cover postage and packaging, somewhere around $1 at the most per disk. I hope to get different episodes out to different people to facilitate even trades. I’ve already spent a considerable amount to purchase the required equipment and video material to do these transfers and would like to help others benefit from it.

What do I need to get the episodes?

All we ask is that you have a retail copy of the movie (VHS, Laserdisc or DVD) since we use that along with the host segments to create what you get and we also ask that you register in the forum. I An Not A Lawyer but having a retail copy of the movie should allow you to have this new version so long as you never sell or charge for this new disc and use it for internal home viewing only. We must insist again that if you ever sell, lose or otherwise misplace your retail copy of the movie you destroy this disc as well. You also agree to destroy this disc should these episodes come out in retail form from their respective copyright holders. Again we are not looking to make money from this, nor are we looking to help anyone else make money from this, we just want to preserve these episodes to our fullest ability should retail options never become available so that they are not lost forever.

Ok, I understand all that so how do I get started?

Easy, have a retail copy of the movie and join the forum, look for the posts in the JBB MonsterVision Episode Batches forum. To keep costs down and get the episodes out faster we have switched over to a pay-it-forward system, just post that you would like to participate and we will get you on board. I’ll send out 5 or 6 episodes to the first person who will send it to the next person and so on. The next time another batch of episodes are released I’ll try and rotate the list so everyone has a chance to get them first.

I want to help you, how can I?

In the Help Us Help You forum we will keep a running list of what we are looking for, we are also always on the lookout for VHS copies of any Joe Bob Briggs TV material, if you can supply those you will be rewarded with being the first to receive the latest copies of episodes we release.
